This evening, something magical happened in Kirdford, a Nativity was put on at the Foresters Pub…
The montage was organised by Dave ‘Swadust’ Saunders, Karl and Gerard, and I was totally amazed at what they had put on.
First was a procession down the road and into the pub, Joseph and Mary, followed by the Shepherds, the surreal panto donkey and cow, Angels watched over the holy couple, then there were the 3 Kings leading REAL Lamas!
I was supposed to be photographing the event, and turning up at the house where everyone was to get changed, found that the back-end of the Donkey had not turned up, therefore the camera was pushed into Gerard’s hands and I donned the back-end of a panto horse.
Therefore I cannot really comment on what went on, as I spent most of the show, bent double, looking at the ground and trying to figure out which direction Nat (the front end) was going to go.
From talking to the audience afterwards, it seemed to be a great success, with the Lamas being cooed over, lanterns being launched on the green, the full story being played out by the locals, and a big firework to finish off the show – carols were sung, and money was raised for charity. The show was finished off with a rendition of Lampoon’s ‘Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life’
Well done to everyone who put the effort into this show – it was brilliant and loved by everybody.
