Well the crowds gathered, around the bonfire, on Kirdford Green, the pyre had been lit and the sausages were on the spit. Luckily the skies were clear, with a slither of moon to light your way. Children had smiling faces as they swung sparklers, creating shapes in the air.
It was a good evening for socialising with other villagers and catching up with friends, children made good use of wellies and puddles, sausages ina bun, doughnuts and toffee apples were available; the Foresters Arms were prepared with lots of staff behind the bar.
Once the fireworks started, a hush went over the crowd and everyone was mesmerised for about 10 minutes, under a constant barrage of colors and noise.
Well done to the Parish Council and all the volunteers for organising a great event, it will be interesting to see how much was raised for this years festivities. Not as many turned up this year, possibly because it was held a day early due to overbooking of the firework company.
